Upon my waking, I fell forward hitting my head hard, shivering compulsively. Face down I lay, not five paces from the open refrigerator door. I had fallen into a room which appeared to be a kitchen. From the looks of it, it was part of a manorial home in the Gothic style. The great house was busy with the sounds of a family reunion. I walked out of the kitchen, which seemed to have far too many test tubes and laboratory apparatus, into a hall. There were at least three generations gathered there, with far too many children to count. The faces of the grandparents bore an uncanny resemblance to my old college friends. Suddenly, I saw that unmistakably, the hall connected the two houses on the property in which I had fallen asleep. Without thinking, I ducked into a side closet. It opened up into an odd room with escalators going up and down many levels, as far as the eye could see. I followed the escalator downwards out of curiosity. In the escalator parallel to mine, I noticed a girl in a pink dress standing. As she turned her head, it became apparent she had a second one. I kept descending the escalators, assuming what I saw had been an illusion. At the bottom, I reached a giant, fluorescently-lit circular area somewhat resembling the interior of a badly maintained travel plaza.
